• Sales and Marketing Executives of Honolulu selected KEITH VIEIRA, senior vice president at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Hawaii and French Polynesia, as the 2003 salesperson of the year. Vieira, born and raised in Hilo, Hawai'i, oversees 14 hotels on six islands.

• The University of Hawai'i Foundation has hired KEVIN TAKAMORI as associate vice president of alumni relations. He is responsible for guiding the university's efforts to provide a program of alumni relations.

PHILIP YOUNG has joined Finance Factors as vice president and operations manager for the residential loan department. In this position, Young is responsible for overseeing the implementation of a new Loan Origination System, supervising the day-to-day operations of all loan transactions and ensuring that loan processing, underwriting, closing and shipping practices are in compliance with all federal and state regulations and company policies.

• Kuakini Health System has promoted AARON MITSCHKE to the position of nurse manager for inpatient nursing services. He coordinates the operational activities for inpatient nursing units to maintain quality patient care.

• Communications Pacific has hired two new staff members for its interactive division, CP Interactive. KATHLEEN FITZGERALD has been hired as Web architect and Charles Nelson as a designer.

• Diagnostic Laboratory Services Inc., recently named JANICE GIBSON as coordinator of client support services. She coordinates client services for 15 of Diagnostic Lab's nontesting satellite offices on O'ahu.

DAWN KRAUSE has been named development manager at Bishop Museum. She is responsible for securing corporate sponsors for exhibits, programs and events and managing the Corporate Membership Program. She also assists in preparing grant proposals and any activities related to fund development.

• Bishop Museum has also promoted NOHEA TORRES to marketing and public relations coordinator. Torres is responsible for supporting the museum's marketing and public relations efforts as well as special events and promotions.

KUI AIPA has been appointed controller of Napili Kai Beach Resort. A native of Maui, he attended Baldwin High School and the University of Las Vegas. He worked in accounting at the Las Vegas and Flamingo Hilton for 10 years.

JENNIFER CAREY has been appointed a sales and marketing executive at KHNL-TV (News 8) and KFVE-TV. Carey is a recent graduate of the University of Hawai'i.

• CB Richard Ellis Hawaii, Inc. has promoted JEFFREY HALL to senior director of research. He supports a brokerage staff of more than 30 sales and leasing advisers, researching and compiling marketing data and property information. Hall publishes CBRE Hawaii's Market Index and Overview Reports and develops and maintains information resources.

• Group 70 International, a planning, architecture and interior design firm, has hired TANYA IDEN to work in the planning division. She is responsible for the preparation of land-use permitting applications, master plans and environmental studies for both government projects and private development.

HEATHER MOIR-DANGLER, president of The Moir Financial Team, has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter professional designation from The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa. Moir-Dangler provides expert advice strategies on a broad range of financial topics including life and health insurance, pension planning, insurance law, income taxation, investments, financial and estate planning and group benefits.

• Dick Pacific Construction Co. Ltd. has promoted long-time marketing coordinator MAUDE OMAI to marketing and public relations initiatives. She also assists in the preparation of proposals for new projects under development for both government and private markets. Omai joined the firm in 1978 as a project secretary and has since served there in various capacities.

• SMG Hawaii has named LISA WONG as human resources manager. She is responsible for all human resources matters related to the Center's employees including training and management development. She bring more than 23 years of experience to the position.

• "Pacific Magazine," the Honolulu-based news monthly that covers the Pacific Islands, has named FLORENCE BETHAM as sales manager. She will also serve as sales manager for the annual "Pacific Islands Buyers Guide," which is published by "Pacific Magazine." She was born and raised in American Samoa and is completing a master's degree at Hawai'i Pacific University.

She replaces LEAH ULEP, who has accepted a position as account executive with "Honolulu Magazine," a sister publication.

• A&B Wailea, an affiliate of A&B Properties Inc., has welcomed CLYDE MURASHIGE to the position of vice president. He is responsible for ongoing operations and future developments at Wailea and reports to A&B Properties vice president Paul Hallin. A&B Wailea is the entity responsible for the management, development and sales of the recently acquired 270 acres of fully-zoned residential and commercial land in Wailea.

MAGGIE FUJINO has joined the graphic design team at PacificBasin Communications. She works on all PacBasin publications, including "Honolulu," "Hawaii Business," "Hawaii Home+Remodeling," "Ala Moana" and "Pacific" magazines. She is former production designer with Trade Publishing.

MATTHEW HOLLINGSHEAD has established his own energy management corporation, MHP Energy Services. MHP Energy Services specializes in utilities sub-metering and energy conservation solutions. Hollingshead performs property surveys, system designs, payback analysis and automatic meter reading for residential and commercial properties.

• The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Washington, D.C., has appointed BRIAN AHAKUELO to the position of international representative. He oversees all organizing campaigns in the nation's western region. He is the first Pacific islander to be appointed to an international position and has recently moved to Henderson, Nev.

• Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa has appointed KEO HORNBOSTEL to the position of senior executive assistant manager, rooms. He will oversee all of the rooms operations, which include valet parking, bell service, front office, reservations, concierge, PBX, housekeeping, laundry, Aloha Services, Regency Club, Camp Hyatt, recreational areas, tennis and security.
