Duke's Waikiki restaurant presented its annual Duke's Ho'okahiko Award to Beamer on Thursday during a ceremony at the restaurant.
Nona Beamer, matriarch of the musical Beamer family, has been recognized as a "living treasure."
General manager Ross Anderson said the award recognizes that Auntie Nona, as she is affectionately called, has dedicated her life to preserving and perpetuating the traditions of ancient Hawai'i.
The award is presented each year to an individual who "exemplifies the finest traditions of Hawai'i." Previous winners include Pualani Mossman, Genoa Keawe, Violet Lilikoi, George Kanahele and Wright Bowman Sr.
Beamer was presented proclamations from Gov. Linda Lingle and Mayor Jeremy Harris declaring the day "Auntie Nona Beamer Day."
