Services for Bishop Ferrario set for Thursday, Friday

Services for Bishop Joseph A. Ferrario, who headed the Honolulu Diocese from 1982 to 1993, will be held Thursday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace and Friday at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa.

Ferrario, 77, died Friday at St. Francis Medical Center.

The bishop will lie in state at Our Lady of Peace, 1184 Bishop St., from 9 a.m. to noon and 12:45 to 6 p.m. Thursday for public visitation.

The viewing will stop briefly for the cathedral's regular noon Mass.

A vigil will be held at 6 p.m.

The visitation will continue Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, 712 N. School St.

A eulogy will be held at 11 a.m., followed by celebration of the funeral Mass.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.

The bishop is survived by his sister-in-law, Marianne Ferrario, nephews Jerry and Joseph Ferrario and Nieces Lisa Malos and Lora Langan.
