Blue Angels to appear in Hawai'i
The Blue Angels, the Navy's F/A-18 Hornet flight demonstration team, will appear for an air show Oct. 9-10 at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i at Kane'ohe Bay.
The Blue Angels, a flight demonstration team inspired by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, first performed in 1946.
Flying Grumman F6F Hellcats, the Blue Angels would perform daring maneuvers to thrill the public and maintain interest in naval aviation.
The Blue Angels have used the F/A-18 Hornet since 1986.

A $400,000 renovation to Kahuna's Sports Bar & Grill at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i at Kane'ohe Bay is providing a new recreation center for E-5 and below sailors and Marines.
Attached to the year-old Kahuna's, the new recreation center features pool tables, a movie theater, computer stations, a Starbucks and video games.
The new theater will seat 20 and show the same movies playing at the base theater. The alcohol-free center was to open last weekend. A grand opening even is scheduled for Wednesday.
Marines heading to Okinawa
More than 800 Marines from the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment arrived on Okinawa for a seven-month deployment as part of the rotating Unit Deployment Program.
The battalion replaced the 1st Battalion at Camp Hansen, and will be attached to the 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
"We have several training opportunities that we're looking forward to during our time with the 4th Marines," said Lt. Col. Andrew R. MacMannis, battalion commander. "The bigger highlights of our time here will be the training we conduct at JWTC (Jungle Warfare Training Center), Camp Fuji and Exercise Forest Light."
