Pipeline Masters postponed

Advertiser Staff

The Xbox Gerry Lopez Pipeline Masters was postponed yesterday because of declining wave heights at the Banzai Pipeline.

One more day of competition is required to determine a champion for the event and a world champion. No. 1 Kelly Slater of Florida and No. 2 Andy Irons of Kaua'i are the only contenders for the world title.

Irons is one of eight Hawai'i surfers remaining in the contest. The others are Kalani Robb, Jamie O'Brien, Pancho Sullivan, Marcus Hickman, Kalani Chapman, Derek Ho and Bruce Irons.

For daily status of the contest, call 596-7873.
