The moped driver, a 68-year-old man, was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center with critical head injuries, police said.

The collision at 1334 Young St. was reported to police at 9:04 p.m. Investigators said the arrested man was driving a sedan that struck the moped while leaving a driveway. The rider, who was not wearing a safety helmet, was thrown from his moped.

The car’s driver was booked at 9:30 p.m. for driving under the influence of an intoxicant and first-degree negligence resulting in injury. He was released without charges but could be indicted at a later date.
