Fire rescue crews were notified at 4:48 p.m. that a helicopter had crashed in the Ko'olau mountains. The helicopter was found about a mile from the ridgeline about an hour later.
The pilot was airlifted to the Whitmore Community Park in Wahiawa, where an awaiting ambulance took him to Wahiawa General Hospital.
Fire spokesman Capt. Kenison Tejada said the man, in his 50s, complained of pain to his shoulder but did not appear to be seriously injured. He was listed in stable condition.
The aircraft was owned by Pacific Helicopter and was contracted by the Army to fly equipment for environmental workers, who were conducting work on the ridgeline in the Kawailoa Training Area.
