BUSINESS BRIEFS
'Aiea Sugar Mill purchase final
Advertiser Staff
The state yesterday completed its $2.5 million purchase of five lots at the old 'Aiea Sugar Mill from Bank of Hawaii, finalizing a deal to preserve the mill site for community use.
The state hopes to move the 'Aiea Public Library to the property, though no timetable has been set. The city, which bought eight mill lots from the bank last year, plans to develop a community center that would include housing for senior citizens.
Bankoh acquired the property in lieu of foreclosure after a previous owner demolished the mill and converted the property into industrial lots.
