Man wanted in Hilo ice raid

Big Island police are looking for a 43-year-old Hilo man who fled Tuesday as officers attempted to serve a search warrant on his home.

Police said Brian Wade Pacheco of Wainaku Avenue left the home as officers from the East Hawai'i Ice Task Force, East Hawai'i Vice section and the Criminal Intelligence Unit approached the house at 1:45 p.m.

Police said they stopped four other people as they tried to leave the home.

A search of the house turned up 5.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or ice, and 2.2 grams of crack cocaine. Police said they arrested a 24-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man in the raid.

Three arrested after standoff

A standoff yesterday at 126 Pauahi St. was resolved without injuries by the U.S. Marshal Service's Fugitive Task Force.

Mark "Dutch" Hanohano, U.S. marshal for the district of Hawai'i, said the task force arrested Toni Riley on an outstanding probation violation warrant, at 10:27 a.m. Two others — a man and a woman — who were in apartment No. 402 were arrested by state sheriff's deputies for hindering prosecution.

The three barricaded themselves in the apartment at about 9:45 a.m. The task force gained entry to the studio unit with a key provided by one Riley's relatives.
