SATURDAY SCOOPS
Pro Bowl activities in Waikiki

Advertiser staff and news services

Now that all the excitement over the Super Bowl is over, it's time to get excited about the Pro Bowl, which takes place at Aloha Stadium tomorrow. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m.

To get you in the mood, there's the annual Topps NFL Experience, continuing at Fort DeRussy in Waikiki. Among the attractions are a card show, free autographs from football stars and cheerleaders, top local entertainment, a fireworks show tonight, games and giveaways.

Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. tomorrow. Admission is $5 general, $3 kids under 12; $3 military, $2 for military dependents under 12. Bring a can of food for the Foodbank and get $1 off an adult or child ticket. Or — today only — bring an empty Meadow Gold or Viva PEP 16-ounce milk bottle to the ticket booth and receive a child's ticket free when you buy an adult ticket.

Tickets are available at Ticket Plus outlets (526-4400) and at the Hale Koa Hotel's activities desk.

Sunset on the Beach back in Waikiki with 'Charlie's Angels'

Sunset on the Beach is back in Waikiki this weekend with featured films "Charlie's Angels" today and "About a Boy" tomorrow.

"Angels" stars Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore (pictured right) and is a campy, action-packed flick based on the old TV series; a sequel is coming this summer. "Boy" stars Hugh Grant as a not-entirely-charming chap who manages to appreciate a young friend.

Each movie will be screened at 6:30 p.m. Sunset begins at 4 p.m. with entertainment and food booths at Queen's Surf Beach. Cross your fingers for good weather.

Admission is free. 523-2489.

Pink grapefruit sets the mood for home fragrance line

You heard it here first: Pink is going to be the It color this year for kitchen and table, according to Williams-Sonoma, a company influential enough to make it so. And one of the first pink things to appear are Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil products, the newest addition to the company's popular line of pungently-scented kitchen soaps and lotions.

"Choosing a new home fragrance is much like creating a perfume or a fine wine," says Neil Lick, a Williams-Sonoma housewares buyer who helped launch the first private-label line of basil, Meyer lemon, rosemary and lavender home products at the store in 2001. "People identify with a scent in their home, like they do with perfume. We chose pink grapefruit because it's known for its toning and astringent properties and customers love citrus in the kitchen. The pink color is a cheerful pop that invokes the spring."

The products arrive just in time for Valentine's Day at the 240 Williams-Sonoma stores, including the one at Ala Moana Center, in the catalog and at www.williams-sonoma.com (877-812-6235).

But perhaps the pink kitchen candle ($16) or hand lotion ($12) is a tad more romantic than the floor cleaner ($9.50).

Speaking of Valentine's Day, have you made those dinner reservations yet?
