Mitch Kahle on O'Reilly show
Mitch Kahle, head of Hawaii Citizens for the Separation of State and Church, appeared on the national broadcast of Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" yesterday.
He debated host Bill O'Reilly concerning the separation of state and church and the group's challenge of the McKinley High School code of honor, which includes the phrase "Love for God."
McKinley High School removed the phrase under a settlement approved by a U.S. District Court judge in Honolulu announced Tuesday. The ACLU of Hawai'i had challenged the Department of Education on behalf of student and plaintiff James Ornellas.
Shows to open at Art House
"Stealing the Fire," a film featured at this year's Human Rights Watch Film Festival, and "The Power of Truth: According to the Dalai Lama" will open Friday at the Art House at Restaurant Row.
Directed by Eric Nadler and John Friedman, "Stealing the Fire" focuses on Karl-Heinz Schaab, a German technician convicted of treason in 1999 for selling top secret nuclear weapons plans to Iraq. The film exposes a web of government and corporate intrigue.
The Dalai Lama documentary, directed by Irene Greve, tells of his message of non-violence.
