At least 43 UH alumni will attend exhibition

Advertiser Staff

The alumni should feel at home in today's exhibition against the 2003 Hawai'i baseball team.

Game time is 1 p.m. at Les Murakami Stadium.

The alumni will be occupying the third base dugouts, which had been the Rainbows' dugout since the program's Division I inception in 1971. The Rainbows switched to get out of the afternoon setting sun.

At least 43 former players will either play or attend the annual exhibition. Among them are pitchers Mark Johnson, Matt Apana, Bill Blanchette, Aaron Pribble, Rich Snider and Sean Yamashita.

Some position players returning are Howard Dashefsky, Trey Garman, Corey Ishigo, Danny Kimura, Ron Nomura, Lane Nogawa, Steven Otani, Greg Oniate, Todd Takayoshi and Curt Watanabe.

Hawai'i coach Mike Trapasso said the game will allow him to use most of his players, especially the freshman pitchers who will get to feel what it is like to perform in front of a crowd.
