NFL gives $100,000 in grants

The NFL has awarded $100,000 worth of grants to two dozen Hawai'i non-profit organizations, the league announced.

The NFL Charities Pro Bowl Grant Program has provided grants the past eight years to Hawai'i non-profit groups.

Seven non-profit organizations received $10,000 grants, three received $5,000 and 14 received $1,000.

The $10,000 recipients are: Blueprint for Change; Hawai'i Centers for Independent Living; Hawai'i Foodbank; Hawai'i Literacy, Inc.; Hawai'i High School Athletic Association; Special Olympics Hawai'i and YWCA/Camp Start-Up.

The $5,000 winners are: Community Assistance Center; Hawai'i's American Cancer Society and Hawai'i Literacy, Inc.

The 1,000 winners are: ASSETS School; Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Honolulu, Inc.; Boys & Girls Club of Hawai'i; Child and Family Service; Friends of the Future; Hale Kipa, Inc.; Hina Mauka; Hospice Hawai'i; Junior Achievement; Nu'uanu YMCA; Ronald McDonald House Charities; Waikiki Health Center; Windward YMCA and YMCA Camp Erdman.



BASEBALL

• Santa Clara beats Hilo: Santa Clara's Matt Travis and Chad Fillinger combined to shut out the Hawai'i-Hilo baseball team, 6-0, yesterday at Simmons' Field in Kailua, Kona.

Travis, who pitched seven innings, allowed three hits and struck out five.



SAILING

• Ko Olina Cup: Bristol won the Ko Olina Cup race from the Galapagos Islands to Hawai'i on Friday.

The Liverpool Clipper was second, with the Jersey Clipper coming in 12 minutes behind for third.
