Woman injured after man falls on her van

A 50-year-old woman was critically injured today after a man fell or jumped from a Waikiki building onto her passing vehicle below.

The 40-year-old man fell several floors from the Ohana Maile Sky Court at 2058 Kuhio Avenue around 3:38 p.m. onto a white mini-van below driven by the woman, said Emergency Medical Services district chief Sue Rauch.

Both were taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where the man was pronounced dead shortly after. The woman was rushed into emergency surgery.

Because of the incident, both east- and west-bound lanes of Kuhio Avenue between Kalaimoku and Namahana streets were shut down. Traffic is being rerouted onto Ala Wai Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue.
