Movie Openings

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey co-star in the romantic comedy "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," which opens tomorrow.

"El Crimen del Padre Amaro": A young, ambitious priest falls in love with a woman, eventually leading them to an illegal abortion. Based on an 1875 Portuguese novel, transplanted to modern Mexico. In Spanish, with English subtitles. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (R)

"Deliver Us from Eva": A romantic comedy: A modern take on Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew," with the oldest of four sisters, Eva (Gabrielle Union), as the shrew who meets her match in Ray (LL Cool J, now listed as James Todd Smith in movie roles). "Personal Velocity": Three stories about three women at turning points in their lives, starring Kyra Sedgwick, Parker Posey and Fairuza Balk. Based on short stories by the director, Rebecca Miller, who establishes her characters with a few well-chosen strokes and immerses us in these lives in crisis. Winner of the grand jury prize and award for cinematography at Sundance 2002. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (R)

"Shanghai Knights": Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson star in a sequel to the hit comedy western "Shanghai Noon." This time the two head for England to avenge the death of the Chan character's father.
