Critic's Choice

Mini-reviews of current stage productions, by Advertiser theater critic Joseph Rozmiarek

"War": This problem play for intermediate and high schoolers puts a contemporary spin on the question of what makes a man. Four tough-talking teenagers explore the methods and consequences of abusive behavior, with dialogue that approximates raw poetry. Repeats at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 15, Tenney Theatre, St. Andrew's Cathedral. $12 general, $6 for 12 and younger. 839-9885.

"Seamarks": A lovely and tender two-character play that combines the primitive poetry of a rough Irish fisherman and the clear-sighted love of a publisher's assistant. Excellent performances make for a sweetly rewarding evening. Repeats at 8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays, 4 p.m. Sundays, through Feb. 16, Hawai'i Pacific University Theatre. $5-$14. 375-1282.
