Driver practice sessions to begin at Raceway Park

Practice sessions for the 2003 stock car racing season at Hawai'i Raceway Park will be Feb. 15 and Feb. 22.

The practice sessions, which begin at 5 p.m., are open to racers who have a car that is set up for racing and meets safety requirements.

There will be a $5 charge for racers and spectators. The season starts March 8.



BIRD WATCHING

• Amateurs wanted: The National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is holding the Great Backyard Bird Count, a nationwide bird census taking place in communities across the country Feb. 14-17.

To participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count, bird enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels are asked to spend some time over the weekend observing and counting the birds in their yard or local park, and then enter the information into an online database.
