Kaiser sweeps OIA East meet titles

Kaiser won both boys and girls championships in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division championships yesterday at Kalani.

Kaiser's boys beat Roosevelt 157 to 126 and the Cougar girls outscored Kalani 113 to 102 in the nine-team meets.

No meet records were broken.

Third-place Kalaheo had two double winners in the girls meet. Junior Maria Krawciw won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races and junior Christine Phillips won the 200 and 500 freestyle events.

In the boys meet, Roosevelt's Jonathan Ching won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Moanalua's Quinton Darling won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

The overall OIA championships will be held Friday and Saturday at Kalani.
