Undefeated OIA softball champion Kailua awarded No. 1 seed

Kailua, the state's lone undefeated team, has been awarded the No. 1 seed in this week's Chevron State Softball Championship Tournament.

The Surfriders won the O'ahu Interscholastic Association title with a 13-0 record.

Defending state champion Kamehameha, which won the Interscholastic League of Honolulu title with a 15-2 record, is seeded second. Maui champion Baldwin (14-3) is seeded third and Kaua'i champion Waimea (10-2) is fourth. The four seeded teams in the 12-team field receive first-round byes.

The tournament runs Wednesday through Saturday, with all games being played at the University of Hawai'i's Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Here is the tournament schedule:

WEDNESDAY

  • Game 1 — Lahainaluna (14-4) vs. Leilehua (9-5), 1 p.m.
  • Game 2 — Hilo (10-1) vs. Kapolei (11-3), 3 p.m.
  • Game 3 — Mililani (12-1) vs. Waiakea (9-2), 5 p.m.
  • Game 4 — Punahou (14-3) vs. Castle (9-3), 7 p.m.

THURSDAY

  • Game 5 — Losers of Games 1 & 4, 11 a.m.
  • Game 6 — Waimea (10-2) vs. Winner of Game 4, 1 p.m.
  • Game 7 — Kailua (13-0) vs. Winner of Game 1, 3 p.m.
  • Game 8 — Kamehameha (15-2) vs. Winner of Game 2, 5 p.m.
  • Game 9 — Baldwin (14-3) vs. Winner of Game 3, 7 p.m.

FRIDAY

  • Game 10 — Losers of Games 2 & 3, noon.
  • Game 11 — Losers of Games 6 & 7, 2 p.m.
  • Game 12 — Losers of Games 8 & 9, 4 p.m.
  • Game 13 — Winners of Games 8 & 9, 6 p.m.
  • Game 14 — Winners of Games 6 & 7, 8 p.m.

SATURDAY

  • Game 15 — Winners of Games 5 & 10, 2 p.m.
  • Game 16 — Winners of Games 11 & 12, 4 p.m.
  • Game 17 — Losers of Games 13 & 14, 6 p.m.
  • Game 18 — Winners of Games 13 & 14, 8 p.m.
