Affable actor delights diners

HALE'IWA — Brad Pitt dined with his wife, Jennifer Aniston, who is in town filming her next movie, "The Untitled John Hamburg Project," on the North Shore during the weekend.

Pitt, who is not part of the film, accompanied Aniston to a quiet dinner Saturday night at Hale'iwa Joe's, and he created quite a stir.

"He didn't have a beard," said a restaurant source, "but he talked to people and shook hands ... and was the most accessible of them all, even getting down on his knees to talk to a child."

Diners at Hale'iwa Joe's customarily don't bring cameras, "so you can imagine the number of cell phone calls when he walked in," said the source. "One woman dialed her mother in Florida ... and it must have been 2 a.m."

The dinner might have been an early birthday celebration for Aniston, who turns 34 today, though there was no cake or hoopla. Aniston was out filming yesterday; it's possible she and Pitt would leave today, however, since she was scheduled for only one day of shooting.

The film's director, Hamburg, was also at the dinner, with cast members Ben Stiller and his actress-wife, Christine Taylor, plus Debra Messing and Hank Azaria.

The celebs avoided limos, traveling via an SUV and late-model sedans. And who paid the bill? Stiller.
