Japan renews energy grant

The Japanese government has given additional money to a Hawai'i organization that promotes renewable energy use in Pacific Island nations.
The Pacific International Center for High Technology Research received $360,000. Japan has given PICHTR a total of $12.4 million since the Japanese government signed a joint research and development agreement with the United States in 1985.
The group helps Pacific Island nations install solar electricity systems in residents' homes.
