Ilikai reaches tentative deal

The Ilikai hotel and the union representing 320 of its workers last night reached a tentative agreement on a four-year contract, a union spokesman said.
Local 5 of the Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees Union had scheduled a strike vote for Tuesday. Now union members will take a ratification vote that day at the Ala Moana Hotel, union spokesman Jason Ward said.
The agreement was reached after negotiators resolved how much the Ilikai would increase its contributions to the employees' pension fund, Ward said. The hotel agreed to an increase equivalent to those reached with four Sheraton hotels, the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, he said.
The Ilikai agreement leaves only the Ala Moana Hotel and its 450 union members without an agreement with Local 5.
