Free jogging clinics on tap for aspiring marathoners

For those with aspirations of completing a marathon, the Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring free jogging clinics.

The clinics will begin March 9. The clinics are open to runners of all levels, with an emphasis on beginners.

The Marathon Training Jogging Clinic, will be at Kapi'olani Park near the Paki Hale on Sundays at 7:30 a.m. The clinic will not take place on three-day weekends.

The Central O'ahu Jogging Clinic will begin at Wahiawa District Park at Kilani Avenue at 6:30 a.m. The clinic will meet there in odd months. In even months, the clinic will be held at Mililani Mauka Elementary School at 6 a.m.

The Marathon Training Jogging Clinic will feature talks by Dr. Jack Scaff, a recent inductee into the Hawai'i Sports Hall of Fame.

This year, the Honolulu Marathon will be Dec. 14.
