WASHINGTON — Here are some actions in Congress last week.

Key House votes:

1. Welfare

The House on Thursday passed by a 230-192 vote a bill to require welfare recipients to work 40 hours a week. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Hawai'i votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) NAY; Ed Case (D) NAY

2. 2003 spending bill

The House on Thursday passed by a vote of 338-83 a $397.4 billion spending bill that would pay for most government operations through Sept. 30. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.

Hawai'i votes: Neil Abercrombie (D) YEA; Ed Case (D) YEA


Key Senate votes:

The Senate on Thursday passed by a 76-20 vote a $397.4 billion spending bill that would pay for most government operations through Sept. 30. A "yea" vote was to pass the bill.
