Isle airline seats increase, reversing trend

Advertiser Staff

The number of airline seats available on Mainland-Hawai'i flights increased last year, bucking the trend of declining seat capacity for major U.S. carriers as a whole.

Airlines flew nearly 5.5 million seats to Hawai'i from the Mainland in 2002, up 3.8 percent from 2001, according to a Hawai'i Visitor & Convention Bureau analysis of Official Airlines Guides flight schedules.

Nationwide, seat capacity fell by 4.4 percent.
