Ilikai workers ratify contract

Advertiser Staff

Employees at the Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki hotel last night overwhelmingly ratified a new four-year contract that's similar to six other hotel union contracts that have been settled in recent months.

The 187-2 vote means increased employer contributions to the retirement plan for the Ilikai's more than 300 unionized workers and a slight bump in pay, union officials said. The Local 5 Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees Union negotiates contracts with eight Waikiki hotels.

"Now that Ilikai is settled," union spokesman Jason Ward said, "we can focus our attention on the Ala Moana Hotel, the remaining hotel."
