Ruth's Chris offers dinner-show deal

Ruth's Chris Steak House is offering a special dinner and show package March 11, opening night of "Spirit of the Dance" at the Hawai'i Theatre. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a dinner that includes caesar salad, choice of three entrees, family-style accompaniments, a chocolate sin cake and coffee. Diners are then taken by trolley to the Hawai'i Theatre for "Spirit of the Dance," which blends movement styles from traditions as different as Irish dance, flamenco and salsa. 'Ulupalakua festival to be April 26

The date for the annual "'Ulupalakua Thing" farming festival and agricultural trade show on Maui is set: April 26 at the 'Ulupalakua Ranch and Tedeschi Vineyards in 'Ulupalakua. Last year's show drew 7,500 people. The event starts with a trade show from 10 a.m. to noon with gates open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. Application deadline for trade show participants is March 28. Products must be grown here, made from ingredients grown here or serve to support local agriculture and free samples must be made available. Applications are available at www.ulupalakuathing.com or by calling (808) 878-2839. Admission will be $10 and ticket sales begin in April.


Girls' Day brunch at Ka'anapali hotel

The Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, known for its Hawaiian programs and local-style celebrations, is planning a Girls' Day Celebration Brunch March 2 with a kimono fashion show with mother-daughter models and a teppanyaki buffet with special sweets including chichi mochi rice cakes.

Brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; $28.95 adults, $24.95 kama'aina, $14.50 children; 5 and younger free. Reservations: (808) 667-0124.


Brewers to share their stuff in Kona

The eighth annual Kona Brewers Festival from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 8 will feature 30 Hawai'i and Mainland brewers pouring 60 types of ales and lagers and chefs from 25 restaurants serving up samples at King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Each brewery will present two types of brews ranging from light pilseners to heavy stouts. Entertainment will include Hana Aloha, Lawakua and California band Kulica. Contests, a trash fashion show, educational displays, fire dancers and hula are promised.

The event is a fund-raiser for environmental and cultural organizations and promotes craft breweries in Hawai'i. St. Ann's plans tasting festival

St. Ann's Church & School is hosting a Taste of St. Ann's event 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 1 in its food court at 46-125 Ha'iku Road.
