Motorcyclist critically injured

A man injured in a motorcycle accident last night on Waialua Beach Road was in critical condition today at The Queen's Medical Center.

Police investigators said speed appears to be a factor in the 8:10 p.m. accident in which a 1986 Honda motorcycle hit a parked car. The injured man, who was not carrying any identification, was traveling east on Waialua Beach Road when his motorcycle hit with a 1953 Chevrolet.

The man was thrown from the motorcycle and the impact caused the car to hit a parked pickup truck, police said. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. He was taken by air to Queen's.

Man charged with auto theft

Police yesterday charged 28-year-old Ryan You with auto theft. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.

You was arrested Tuesday by Pearl City District patrol officers investigating an auto theft report on Pu'ula'ula Place in aliamanu at 6:18 p.m. Officers allegedly spotted You driving the stolen car and arrested him after a short pursuit.

Man charged in vandalism

A 22-year-old man has been charged with second-degree criminal property damage in connection with a mini-rampage Monday night on Kuilei Street in Mo'ili'ili.

Paul Nguyen is accused of throwing large rocks and damaging the windshields of two parked cars in addition to knocking over two motorcycles. He is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Man reports beating, robbery

A 42-year-old Waikiki man reported to police that he was beaten and robbed at gunpoint early today by five men who forced their way into his third-floor apartment in the 2400 block of Kuhio Avenue.

The armed robbery was reported at 12:30 a.m. The man was not seriously injured but told police he was robbed of $400 cash.

No suspects have been caught.

Man in hospital after brawl

A 22-year-old man was repeatedly struck on the head with the leg of a broken chair early today in a sidewalk brawl on Lewers Street in Waikiki. The man is in guarded condition at The Queen's Medical Center, said police.

The man and two friends were arguing with four other men at 1:30 a.m. when the dispute erupted into a fight. The four men fled the scene before police arrived. The case is classified as an attempted-murder investigation.
