"Biography," 6 p.m., A&E. As a kid in Harlem, James Baldwin drew constant ridicule. Strangers mocked his big eyes and skinny body. What Baldwin could do was write with beauty and passion. His novels, essays and stories made him a hero in the United States and as an expatriate in Paris. This excellent documentary makes rich use of Baldwin's writing and of vintage photos and clips.
