Mililani girls gain soccer semifinals

Liane Tom scored three goals as defending champion Mililani defeated Kalaheo, 4-0, yesterday in the quarterfinal round of the Meadow Gold Girls State Soccer Championship at War Memorial Stadium on Maui.

Sarah Yoro also scored for the top-seeded and O'ahu Interscholastic Association champion Trojans (13-0-1), who will play OIA West rival 'Aiea (13-3) in tonight's first semifinal at 5:30.

The Trojan defense limited the Mustangs (10-3-3) to four shots all in the first half when Tom scored twice to give her team a 2-0 lead.
Kalaheo will play Hawai'i Prep in the consolation round today at Keopuolani Park at 1:30 p.m.
In yesterday's other quarterfinal games:
Punahou 5, Kahuku 1: Senior forward Adria Campbell scored three goals to lift the Buffanblu (10-0-1) over the Red Raiders (9-5-1).
Kelly Kalapa and Kelsie Look also scored for second-seeded Punahou, which took 29 shots to Kahuku's five. Campbell's first goal at 38:35 put the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champions ahead to stay 2-1.
The Buffanblu will play Pearl City in tonight's other semifinal at 7:30.
Tiana Ahue scored for Kahuku, the OIA's fourth-place team.
Pearl City 1, Baldwin 0: Kari Tanimoto scored at 26:01 and the Chargers (13-1-1) made the goal stand up the rest of the way to upset the third-seeded Bears (12-1).
Pearl City, the OIA's second-place team, withstood 15 shots by Baldwin, the Maui Interscholastic League champion.
Baldwin will play Kahuku in the consolation round today at Keopuolani Park at 3:30 p.m.
'Aiea 1, Hawai'i Prep 0: As they did in their first-round victory, Na Ali'i won a game in a penalty kick shootout.
Tehane Higa's shot into the goal proved to be the difference as Aiea (13-3) beat fourth-seeded Hawai'i Prep (12-2) in penalty kicks, 4-3.
The game was scoreless after 80 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtimes.
Randene Ako, Loren Osaki and Ambree Ako also scored in penalty kicks for Na Ali'i, while Marissa Faye, Leslie Benigno and Hi'ilawe Dela Cruz tallied for Ka Makani.
In yesterday's consolation round games:
King Kekaulike 3, Kaua'i 2: Chandi Bickford scored two goals and Kainoa Correa scored game-winner with three minutes to play as King Kekaulike (10-3-1) edged Kaua'i (5-3-2).
Kristen Matsunaga and Holly Iloreta scored for Kaua'i.
Kealakehe 3, Hilo 1: Lisa Franke scored twice for Kealakehe (12-4), which also got an own goal in its win over Hilo (11-4).
Dayva Keolanui scored for Hilo.
