HPU beats Chaminade in PacWest game, 85-73

Nic Walters scored 23 points and had five steals, and three teammates scored in double figures as Hawai'i Pacific University defeated Chaminade, 85-73, last night in a Pacific West Conference game at McCabe Gym.

A crowd of 500 attended the game.

Aaron Abrams added 18 points, Leandro Maruoka 17 and Marvin Noble 13 for the Sea Warriors, who improved to 14-7 overall and 3-6 in conference.

Leon Ballard had 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Mike Donegan added 15 points for the Silverswords, who fell to 10-13 and 5-6.

Chaminade led 33-30 at halftime, but Hawai'i Pacific dominated the second half, 55-40.

A total of 47 fouls were called in the game.

The Sea Warriors converted 22 of 30 free throws, while the Silverswords made 16 of 25 attempts.

In another PacWest game last night, visiting Montana State-Billings rolled to a 111-79 victory over Western New Mexico.
