Mililani tournament renamed: Defending state champion Mid-Pacific Institute is among 12 teams in the first Mililani Glenn Nitta Baseball Invitational set for Thursday through Sunday.

For years, the annual preseason tournament was called the Mililani Trojans Tournament. Nitta started at the then-new school with a JV team in 1973 before moving to varsity the following season. He is now the athletic director of Mililani.

The tournament features four O'ahu Interscholastic Association West (host Mililani, Campbell, Leilehua and Kapolei) and four East schools (Kailua, Roosevelt, Kaimuki and Castle). Joining the Owls from the ILH are Kamehameha, Maryknoll and Damien.
