H. MITCHELL D'OLIER, president and chief executive officer of Kane'ohe Ranch Co. and the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, has been named chairman of the Hawai'i Business Roundtable, the nonprofit group of business leaders, with a focus on promoting the state's overall economic health and improvement in education.

Other newly elected officers are vice chairwoman FAYE WATANABE KURREN, president of Tesoro Hawai'i Corp., and treasurer DONALD G. HORNER, president and chief operating officer of First Hawaiian Bank.

The following members were elected to the executive committee: DAVID CAREY, president and chief executive officer of Outrigger Enterprises Inc.; ROBERT F. CLARKE, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc.; ROGER DRUE, past chairman of the Roundtable, and chairman and chief executive officer of Hawai'i Pacific Health; MICHAEL E. O'NEIL, chairman and chief executive officer of Pacific Century Financial Corp. and Bank of Hawaii; HARRY SAUNDERS, executive vice president of Castle & Cooke Homes Hawai'i Inc.; and NONIE TOLEDO, regional vice president of Sprint Hawai'i.

STEPHEN GOODENOW, co-founder in 1965 of Goodenow associates Inc. with his father, FBI Special Agent BARRY GOODENOW, has left the private investigative agency to do independent consulting.

TERRY B. PENNINGTON, with the company since 1982, will remain as president; JOE CABREJOS, with the firm since 1983, will remain as vice president and agency licensee. The two have been sole owners and shareholders since purchasing the investigative business in 1992.

The name of the firm will remain unchanged.

DONNA TOMITA, director of marketing for Castle & Cooke Homes Hawai'i Inc., has been named chairwoman for the 47th annual Building Industry Association of Hawai'i Parade of Homes, scheduled for October. The annual open house, highlighting the latest in home construction and design statewide, is scheduled for two weekends — Oct. 4-5 and Oct. 11-12.

Also on the event's steering committee are sales chairman TOM CARMICHAEL, of American Savings Bank; sponsorship chairwoman VICKI GAYNOR, of Haseko Homes Inc.; marketing/banquet chairwoman MARY HAKODA, of Prudential Locations; golf chairwoman, BROOKE KANESHIRO, of Hawai'i Home Loans; budget chairwoman, NICKI ANN THOMPSON, of Hawai'i Association of Realtors; and judging chairman RYAN YAMAUCHI, of Island Title Corp.

• Attorney and foreclosure specialist MARVIN DANG has been elected chairman of the Hawai'i State bar Association Collection Law Section. Also elected were vice chairman STEVEN GUTTMAN; secretary THOMAS WONG, and treasurer DAVID FARMER.

• Time magazine, in association with Goodyear, has named local car dealer MIKE McKENNA as winner of its 34th annual TIME Magazine Quality Dealer Award. The award, conferred during the National Automotive Dealers Association convention, recognizes new-car dealers not only for exceptional performance but also for distinguished community service. McKenna's award recognizes his financial support of public schools, including Project Grad, a program that encourages graduates to attend drug- and alcohol-free parties.

• Overseeing an exclusive Atlas Insurance Agency Inc. professional liability insurance product for nursing homes will be among responsibilities for new assistant vice president CAROLYN T. DAVIS. In the company's Client Consulting Group, she will be responsible for revenue and profitability generated from existing client services, and new sales.

JACY YOUN, former assistant editor of Hawai'i Business magazine, has been promoted to managing editor, overseeing the monthly deadline cycle and working with Editor Cathy Cruz on story lineups and photography assignments. Before joining the regional business magazine in 2000, Youn was a guest services representative for Outrigger Hotels & Resorts and a frequent freelance contributor to Hawai'i publications. Among her recent accomplishments was heading the six-month Hawai'i Business compilation of biographies of more than 300 senior executives at the magazine's Top 250 companies, the 2002 "Black Book."
