Karaoke competition running at Don Ho's

Advertiser Staff and News Services

WATERSON
It's not quite "American Idol," but another form of talent search will be under way tonight at Don Ho's Island Grill at Aloha Tower Marketplace.

It's the first monthly run-off of a 2003 Talent Search being conducted by Al Waterson and You, a karaoke feature that has moved to Don Ho's after years at Fisherman's Wharf.

Ultimately, the grand prize winner gets an Aloha Airlines trip to Las Vegas, a chance to appear in Don Ho's holiday show, and a recording op with Jon de Mello of Mountain Apple Co. The weekly contests are held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Phone 947-5736 to compete.

Mete watch offered through Sunglass Hut

The men's runways in Milan, Paris, New York and London offered some looks that screamed Mad Max gone farming on a 1970s commune. This look has been captured in a watch by Arnette called Mete. It's a bold brown or black leather wide cuff with contrasting wheat stitching. It has a vertical brushed stainless steel case with a shiny bezel and sunray black dial.

The Mete retails for about $85 at Sunglass Hut/Watch Station stores. If it has not arrived at your nearby store, try calling (800) SUNGLASS (786-45277) to place a phone order.
