VICTORIA, British Columbia British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell says he will not appear in court in Hawai'i to face charges that include drunken driving.
His lawyer has advised him that a personal appearance is not required and would be unusual, Campbell said Wednesday.
Campbell, 55, was arrested Jan. 10 on Maui while driving back to his hotel after a dinner with friends. He was charged with drunken driving and jailed overnight after his blood alcohol level registered nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08.
