Flooring group installs officers

The Hawai'i Flooring Association has installed its new officers and directors for 2003-04. They are: re-installed as president, Roy Tokuhama, president of Abbey Carpets of Hawai'i; vice president and special events chairman Lester Tokuhisa, president of Island Flooring Inc.; secretary and Kaua'i director George Fern, owner of Kaua'i Floors; treasurer and Maui director Warren Orikasa, president of Maui Carpet & Drapery Inc; and directors, Dinah Hirayama, co-owner of Ray's Carpet & Drapery; Les Kumiji, Hawai'i director, owner of Les' Carpet & Drapery in Hilo; and Norman Shimabukuro, president of Floors of Hawai'i, immediate past president. Associate representatives include: Jack Uyeda, branch manager of Tri-West of Hawai'i and Mike Takamoto, general manager of Medallion Carpets.


Lawyer named mediator fellow

Honolulu attorney Michael Nauyokas has been inducted as a fellow of The American College of Civil Trial Mediators. He is the second Hawai'i attorney to achieve this distinction.

The ACCTM is an association of mediators and dispute resolution professionals who are distinguished by their experience, skill, ethical standards and professional commitment to teaching, administering or practicing general jurisdiction civil trial mediation.

Nauyokas has mediated more than 500 employment, labor, personal injury, commercial, product liability and other disputes in Honolulu. More than 98 percent of the cases he mediated were settled.
