Security eased at Arizona, Bowfin, Missouri

Advertiser Staff

Security restrictions for personal items were reduced today at the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Bowfin submarine park and the USS Missouri Memorial, the National Park Service announced.

The relaxed restrictions, which the park service said it may change at any moment, involve items that were not allowed to be brought in by visitors after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Beginning today, purses, handbags, fanny packs, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags and luggage may be brought in by visitors as long as they fall within these dimensions: 12 inches high by 12 inches wide by 12 inches deep. A new security "measurement box" will be set up at the entrance.

All items will be subject to search at any time.
