Robber flees after McCully bank heist

The McCully branch of Territorial Savings was robbed yesterday by a man who handed a note to a teller saying he had a gun.

The robbery was reported at 10:33 a.m. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.


Abduction, rape claims investigated

Police are investigating the possible abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl in Kaimuki.

The girl told police she was kidnapped at about 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve near Kaimuki High School and held against her will until yesterday, when she managed to escape at Waimanalo Beach Park.

Her attacker beat her in a park restroom before fleeing, she told police. The girl reported the attack to police yesterday at 2 a.m.


Man arrested in Hale'iwa car theft

A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday in Wahiawa on suspicion of stealing a woman's car at Hale'iwa Beach Park yesterday to flee from police.

He was taken into custody at 11:39 a.m. on Kamehameha Highway near Whitmore Avenue after the car broke down, police said. He's being held on suspicion of auto theft and second-degree robbery.

Police also arrested a 20-year-old man.
