Kalaheo wins OIA basketball opener

Sam Wilhoite and Theo Fujita each scored 15 points to lead Kalaheo to a 67-42 season-opening victory over McKinley in a OIA Eastern Division boys basketball game at Kalaheo.

The Mustangs are the defending O'ahu Interscholastic Association champions.

Abel Werner led McKinley with 13 points.

Senior Corie Tavares led all scorers with 12 points, including a clutch free throw with 3.1 seconds left for the final point of the game for the Chargers.

Lawrence Sumaoang scored 14 points to lead Waialua.
