Dorsey expected for Hula Bowl

Advertiser Staff

Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey, two-time Heisman Trophy finalist, has accepted an invitation to play in the Hula Bowl Maui on Feb. 1.

Meanwhile, Jason Gesser, Washington State's quarterback who has been hobbled by injuries, will not.

Gesser, a Saint Louis School alum, was "definitely invited" to play in the Hula Bowl Maui, according to bowl official Brad Cress.

"We have been told that because of injuries (ankle, calf, knee), he's not going to play anywhere," Cress said.

Dorsey, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound senior, has been named to the first team All-Big East and Academic All-Big East team three times each.

The college all-star football game is 4 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium.

Miami's Larry Coker will be one of the head coaches for the game.

Other Hurricanes committed to the game are punter Freddie Capshaw, kicker Todd Sievers and defensive tackle Matt Walters.
