DR. BRADLEY WILLCOX, a nationally recognized expert on healthy aging, has left Harvard Medical School to join the Honolulu-based Pacific Health Research Institute as a physician investigator. He is co-principal investigator of the Okinawa Centenarian Study and author of "The Okinawa Program: Learn the Secrets to Healthy Longevity." Dr. Willcox plans to continue his work in Okinawa, where he will be spending about three months a year. He is developing additional studies on healthy aging and plans to publish a book on diet and longevity.

• Bank of Hawaii employees DARLENE BLAKENEY, JILL SHIMOKAWA HIGA, LORI HIRAMATSU, MALCOLM LAU and JASON SUNAHARA received top honors from the Pacific Coast Banking School in Washington state where they were enrolled in a three-year, graduate level banking program.

Blakeney is a senior vice president and Hawaii Commercial Banking Center manager. Higa is a vice president and division consumer sales manager in the Hawaii Branch Division. Hiramatsu is a vice president and district sales manager in the Hawaii Branch Division; Lau is a vice president and West Market manager in the Business Banking Division. Sunahara is an audit consultant in Internal Audit.

The graduates' honors include a first-ever, three-way tie among Lau, Sunahara and another participant for the Kermit O. Hanson Award, given to the graduate with the highest academic achievement.

• The downtown office of LPL Financial Services (also known as Linsco/Private Ledger) has announced the addition of NELSON SANTIAGO as an insurance and investment consultant to the firm. He brings 16 years of experience in disability and long-term care insurance to the position.

• The U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce, Hawaii Affiliate, announced members of its board of directors. They are: PIIA AARMA of Pineapple Tweed, LOIS ABRAMS of Mary Worrall Associates Inc., RUTH ANN BECKER of Becker Communications Inc., BEVERLY CABRERA of Hawaii Women's Business Center, KRISTINE ELLIS-FUJIMOTO of Hawaii Woman Magazine, DONNA ESTOMAGO of Lanikai Public Charter School, BEVERLY HARBIN of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, KATE HOGLE of KWME Inc., KITTY LAGARETA of Communications Pacific, GAIL NAKAMA of American Savings Bank, and JEANNE OHTA of Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women.

• Grant Thornton LLP has announced the appointment of ROY MORIHARA as the new managing partner for Hawai'i. He has been with the international firm's Honolulu office for more than 35 years. He is the client services partner on several of the firm's large-audit clients and a veteran accountant and auditing professional. In his new role, he will continue to serve key clients and provide leadership and staff development.

• M&E Pacific Inc., an environmental engineering firm, has appointed DAVID HATCHELL as senior project surveyor. He has more than 25 years of experience in surveying and mapping and is a licensed professional land surveyor in Hawai'i, California and Texas. His responsibilities include managing all survey and mapping projects for the company, as well as the day to day operations of the surveying group.

DEAN HIRABAYASHI has joined A&B Properties, the real estate development and management subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin Inc., as project manager-acquisitions. He is responsible for identifying and analyzing new investments and acquisitions. He was most recently vice president of GE Capital Real Estate.

• Maryl Group Inc. has added the title of president, Maryl Pacific Construction Inc. to BOB GRIFFITH's other duties as executive vice president, Maryl Group Inc. In his new position, Griffith is responsible for all operations, planning and development for Maryl Pacific Construction. He was responsible for opening the company's Honolulu office in 1996 and for planning its startup.

BOB DOVE, president and CEO of Hawaii Employers' Mutual Insurance Co., has been appointed to the board of directors of the American Cancer Society of Workers Comp Professional Inc. Dove said: "Hawai'i's workers' compensation market is going through some difficult times, and serving on this board will help bring awareness of what is happening in the nation, and will give us some insights as to how other markets are handling similar problems."

• Edward Jones financial services has announced the addition of two investment representatives: CHRIS BYRER, to the Kane'ohe office, and BERLYN HINAZUMI, to the Manoa office. Byrer was to open a third Kane'ohe office early this year.

BOB DUREN has been promoted to vice president of Success Dynamics, a retail consulting company. Duren was previously general manager of "The Morning Report." JAN JURICK joined the company earlier last year as a sales representative.

• SKAL International Hawaii has announced its new officers for 2002-2003. They are: president NEIL TAKEKAWA, president of Island Air; vice president DAVID UCHIYAMA, regional director of communications for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Hawai'i; secretary RENEE COCHRAN, president of Travel Sales Ltd.; and treasurer BRIAN CRAWFORD, principal member of Chalet Kilauea Collection.
