Maruoka lifts HPU to 8th basketball win in a row

Leandro Maruoka scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Aaron Abrams added 21 points as Hawai'i Pacific beat Saint Martin's (Wash.), 84-64, last night at the Neal Blaisdell Arena.

Hawai'i Pacific's Nic Walters goes for a layup against Saint Martin's College of Washington. Walters scored 19 points as the Sea Warriors defeated the Saints, 84-64, in an NCAA Division II men's basketball game at Neal Blaisdell Center Arena last night.

The Sea Warriors (10-1) won their eighth straight, while the Saints (0-12) remained winless.

Maruoka, who recorded his third double-double of the season, made 7-of-13 field-goal attempts and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Nic Walters added 19 points and Marvin Noble 15 for Hawai'i Pacific.

The Saints made just 4-of-12 free-throw attempts, while the Sea Warriors were 20-of-28.

Brandon Hartley scored 16 points to lead St. Martin's.

HPU will host Drew (N.J.) tomorrow.
