Lafaele, Perry commit to Warriors

Advertiser Staff

Michael Lafaele, an offensive lineman from Farrington High, and George Perry, a defensive back from Kahuku High, have verbally committed to play football at the University of Hawai'i, according to people familiar with the situation.

Lafaele, who is 6 feet 1 and 280 pounds, was named to The Advertiser's All-State first team.

Perry, whose playing abiliy has been compared to that of UH defensive back Hyrum Peters, was a second-team All-State player in 2001. Despite injuries last season, he was named an honorable mention.

They are the first two players to verbally commit to UH this year.

Recruits may put their commitments in writing Feb. 5, the first day of the NCAA signing period.
