Plenty of eyes to verify first ace

Waikele Golf Course
Hole No. 17, 147 yards, 7-wood

I was 10 weeks pregnant, playing golf with my husband and his friends. The guys had just gotten a pair of yardage-distance binoculars and were using it on every hole. The score card said 147 yards to the hole from the ladies' tee, but the guys wanted to verify the distance based on the position of the flag on the green.

The marshall was approaching us on the 17th hole, so I quickly grabbed my heavenly 7-wood and a bright pink ball, thinking that I would probably hook it into the water just left of the green.

I took an easy swing and the ball hit the front of the green and quickly disappeared.

The guys were jumping up and down, saying they saw the ball go into the hole using the distance finder. I didn't believe them until we got to the green and saw my first hole in one.

Of course, I mis-hit off the tee on the 18th hole, because everyone was rubbing my tummy for good luck.

Do you have a story to tell about your hole in one? Tell us about it. Stories must be typed and brief, around 50-100 words. The stories must include the date, course, hole, yardage and club. Return phone numbers must be listed. Holes in one must have been reported to The Advertiser by the golf courses. Fax submissions to 525-5491 or e-mail to: sports@honoluluadvertiser.com
