Tonight's Must-See

"Queens Supreme," 9 p.m., CBS. This is a series worth watching. Maude MacPherson (Kristen Johnson) is trying to get her husband, Judge Jack Moran (Oliver Platt) to sign their divorce papers. She's loud, angry, politically incorrect — and very funny. This series is filled with rich characters and sharp dialogue. Tonight, the judge's courtroom gets taken over by a gunman — but not in the way you'd expect. We also meet other judges (played by Annabella Sciorra, Robert Loggia and L. Scott Caldwell) and some aides, with fine bits from James Madio and Marcy Harriell.

Of Note

"Mister Sterling," 7 p.m., NBC. At first glance, this series rips large chunks of Robert Redford's "The Candidate." The handsome son of an ex-governor is an idealist with no interest in politics until he's suddenly thrust into the big time. The difference is he's been appointed to the Senate. Josh Brolin is solid in the lead with terrific support from William Russ and Audra McDonald, as staffers.

"Fastlane," 7 p.m., Fox. This fast, flashy show moves to a new night. Tonight, the undercover cops try to get down with some surfers.

"Nobel Peace Concert," 7 & 11 p.m., A&E. Former President and Noble Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter is serenaded by Carlos Santana, Jennifer Lopez, Michelle Branch, Josh Groban and more.

"John Doe," 8 p.m., Fox. Doe — the guy who knows everything except his name — again must battle serial killer Lenny Pescoe.

"Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied," 8 p.m., Comedy Central. Standup comic Sykes ("The Chris Rock Show") has a great mix of irreverence and wit.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. Two "Law & Order" cops (Jerry Orbach and Jesse Martin) guest star. They help find out why a 6-year-old has a sexually transmitted disease.
