Police continued to investigate late into the evening and information about how the accident occurred was unavailable.

Firefighters, police and EMS paramedics were called to Waipi'o Uka Street, between Lumikula and Meahale streets, about 6 p.m.

They found a black Trans Am or Firebird and a Chevy Truck, side by at one side of the road.

The passenger in the car was dead when authorities arrived. The car's driver, a 55-year-old man with abdominal injuries, was trapped inside the car and was rescued by firefighters.

The three injured people were taken to The Queen's Medical Center. The 55-year-old man was in guarded condition last night. The two teens were in fair condition.
