Deal set to reopen Big Island hotel
Advertiser Staff
Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Kamehameha Schools and Koa Hotel LLC said they have reached final agreements to reopen the Kona Surf hotel with the name Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort.
The Big Island resort is scheduled to resume operations in the first half of 2004 with $40 million in renovations. The hotel was originally expected to reopen this year, but negotiations delayed the project.
The Kona Surf was closed by Otaka Inc. in June 2000 after the company was hit with a foreclosure suit in December 2000.
