Nurses' vote set Thursday at Queen's

Advertiser Staff

Striking nurses at The Queen's Medical Center will vote Thursday on a tentative contract that would end a walkout that began Dec. 3.

The vote is from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Laborer's International Union Palama headquarters.

Under the agreement reached Jan. 8, the nurses would get a 21 percent increase over three years. Nurses with 10 years' experience at Queen's earn about $30.11 an hour, or $62,629 a year without overtime.

Nurses at Kuakini Medical Center have ratified a new contract that calls for a 20 percent increase over three years. They return to work Friday.

No new talks are scheduled in the nurses strike at St. Francis Medical Center, which is in its seventh week.
