Tree-cutting accident kills man

A 38-year-old man was killed yesterday in a tree-cutting accident at a Heno Place residence in 'Ahuimanu.

The man reportedly fell, and a section of the tree he was cutting landed on him at 9:36 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.


Driver who hit utility pole dies

A 41-year-old Puna man whose car struck a utility pole last week died of his injuries over the weekend, police said.

Boye Paradis, of the Nanawale Estates subdivision on the Big Island, died at The Queen's Medical Center on O'ahu before 3 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Paradis was injured at about 9 p.m. Thursday when his northbound 1987 Honda Accord veered off the Volcano Highway near Mountain View and crashed into a utility pole.


Kunia auto crash victim identified

The medical examiner's office yesterday identified a man killed in a car crash Thursday on Kunia Road as Scott D. Miller, 24.

Police said Miller was traveling south in a 2000 Mercury Cougar at 1:40 a.m. when the car veered off the roadway near Foote Avenue and hit a boulder. Miller was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.


Kaua'i hunter accidentally shot

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — A Kaua'i man was accidentally shot Sunday while hunting in the upper Wailua area known as Loop Road.

Police said the 42-year-old man was recovering at Wilcox Hospital from a gunshot wound to the right shoulder.

It was not clear whether another hunter fired the shot or whether it came from the man's gun, but police said an initial investigation indicated the shooting was accidental.
