THE LEFT LANE
'Jeopardy!' encounter

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Game show host Alex Trebek, center, and the Jeopartdy! Clue Crew.
"Jeopardy!," America's No. 1 quiz show, is holding a Brain Bus event from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Dave & Buster's in the Ward Entertainment Complex.

It's the only public run-through of the "Jeopardy!" game, since this week's auditions at the Hilton Hawaiian Village are restricted to those who've previously signed up through the show's Web site. Those auditions are being held to add to the file of contestants for tapings later this year, the show's 20th season.

The Jeopardy! Clue Crew, an ensemble in town to tape visual clues for use on the syndicated show, will meet and greet fans at Dave & Buster's today. Four members of the crew will tape segments on O'ahu today and Friday, on Kaua'i tomorrow and on the Big Island Sunday.

Seeking the body beautiful

Are you hot? No, really: In another TV-related development at Dave & Buster's, a new ABC reality series, "Are You Hot," has a call out.

The series has selected six markets, Hawai'i among them, for auditions of "beautiful people," with the first round at 6 p.m. today on the Dave & Buster's rooftop. The show seeks 160 contestants from all six markets, who will ultimately be pared down to a "hottest" male and female who split a $100,000 prize.

Smile for TV, Hawai'i

SPENCER
ABC News' "Good Morning America" shines a national spotlight on Hawai'i from 7 to 9 a.m. today with a program devoted to life in the Aloha State. The special, part of ABC News' yearlong series, "50 States: One Nation, One Year," touches on Hawai'i's health and medical advances, tourism and natural beauty. Correspondent Lara Spencer profiles a surfing school run by three firefighters, and interviews Pearl Harbor survivors at the USS Arizona memorial. Celebrity guests include Tom Selleck.

'Angel' grounded?

There are those who think the WB network is condemning "Angel" by moving it to Wednesday nights at 8 p.m., a highly competitive hour of television already occupied by NBC's "The West Wing" and ABC's "Bachelor" franchise, but network people say it's the natural choice to replace freshman flop "Birds of Prey." WB entertainment president Jordan Levin says that despite its failure, "Birds of Prey" showed that there is a male audience available and interested in "fantasy-type programming."

"With 'Fastlane' vacating that time slot, 'Angel' becomes the only real male drama in the time slot," Levin says.

"Angel," starring David Boreanaz, right, hasn't been picked up for a fifth season yet.
